Dress casual/business cocktail. No long gowns or sequins are necessary. However, a cute dress and heels or a jumpsuit or slacks with a nice blouse will do just fine. For the guys, khakis dress pants and a nice shirt, but please no denim. We will have a full night of excitement! Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes and enjoy every minute!
For parking recommendations there is a valet available. Metered street parking is also available throughout downtown St. Petersburg with two hour spaces located on Beach Drive and 3 hour spaces located across the park from the Birchwood on Bayshore Drive NE. Parkmobile is a downloadable iOS app for paying for metered street parking using your credit card.
When you arrive, you will check in and get registered. Each guest will be handed the choice of open bar or signature cocktail. We will have amazing tastings from four fantastic local restaurants who support the arts including Birch and Vine, Dr. BBQ, 1200 Chophouse, and Cafe Cibo. Please take your time to explore the silent auction as well as enjoy the various libations from our restaurants. Be sure to check out our four featured artists, Derek Donnelly, Michael Vahl, Nicholas Lucius, and Frankie G. These artists will be on live on stage painting and the paintings will be auctioned off at the end of the gala.
Proceeds from this evening’s gala benefit The Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts and their class act children’s program. This is your opportunity to buy unique one-of-a-kind original artwork for your home or as a gift, but mostly to support your local artists who contribute significantly to the economy of Saint Petersburg.
Special thanks to the Birchwood, Breakthrough Beverage, Resource Property Management, The Necktie Company, Bayshore Marketing Group, The Dali Museum and the Bill Edwards Foundation for The Arts as well as all of our generous sponsors and supporters you will find in the program book.
MORE ABOUT ART TIES US
Bayshore Marketing Group and Footprints Charities, Inc. has officially kicked off the 2nd Annual “Art Ties Us” contest! Art Ties Us is a passion project fueled by the desire to recognize and celebrate the artistic and economic contributions local artists have made throughout the City of St. Petersburg.
Art Ties us has quickly become one of St. Petersburg’s most recognized Arts Fundraisers. Riding off the success of last year’s inaugural event, Art Ties Us is a passion project fueled by the desire to recognize and celebrate the artistic and economic contributions local artists have made throughout the City of St. Petersburg.
It starts as a contest. This year 61 artists submitted their creative and original artwork for the contest. The top 3 winners were selected by our panel of esteemed judges in the local art community on Thursday, July 11, 2019. 1st place ($1,500 cash prize), 2nd ( $1,000 cash prize), and 3rd place ($750 cash prize) winners were selected. There is also a “popular vote” online contest where the art submitted for the contest is voted on by the public. The winner of that contest will receive $500.
Next, the art will be taken to the Grand Ballroom of The Birchwood and auctioned at the Art Ties Us Gala. This event will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019, from 6 PM to 10 PM. The Gala will host 200 + art enthusiasts and will kick off with an OPEN BAR and tastings from Birch & Vine, 1200 Chophouse, Dr. BBQ, and Café Cibo, all local restaurants who support the Arts. The Birchwood has once again agreed to have neckties made in the likeness of the top three winners which will be worn by the staff for one year following the Gala to further promote the arts and The Birchwood’s support of the arts in St. Petersburg.
This year the coveted Enso Award will be presented to The Dali by our own Duncan McClellan. The Enso Award is given annually to an individual or organization demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the Arts in our community. Dr. Hank Hine, Dali Executive Director, is scheduled to accept The Enso Award at the Gala.
All proceeds will benefit the Bill Edwards Foundation for The Arts whose initiatives are to encourage and support the Arts and artists in St. Petersburg.
Meet our four featured artists;
What else: This year the Art Ties Us committee will bring something totally unique and exciting to the Gala. All art submitted for the Art Ties Us contest will be auctioned at the Gala as well.
The second annual Enso Award will be given to The Dali this year and presented by St. Pete’s very own, Duncan McClellan.
